Stratos Football Club (Stratos FC) is a team established in 2012 by the Faculty of Communication & Media (FCM) students and is managed by Abah group and is striving for a spot in the Social League this year.
Stratos was first established not as a football team, but it was initially made up of students and a few adult players who played regularly and shared the same common interest in ‘Football’. The name ‘Stratos’ was inspired by the Stratosphere jump by Felix Baumgartner, a well- known sky jumper. Stratos symbolizes “courage” and “fearless”.
Mohd Hafiz Abu Bakar manages the club and is responsible for the players’ fitness and training sessions.
Training and matches is held in Dataran Shah Alam. They have quick matches by dividing the team into 10 players on each side almost every evening. Occasionally, they will organize friendly matches with other football teams.
The team’s first friendly match was against FC Cooper from Gombak. During the debut by Stratos FC, they showcased some spectacular goals from FCM final year student in Bachelor of Corporate Communication, Ramzi Bustami, who also scored three goals in the match. Other goals were from Abdullah Salleh, Malek Ahmad and Mohd Hafiz Abu Bakar. Stratos FC won 6-1.
Two weeks after their first game, Stratos FC played against a renowned team, Taman TAR FC. Led by Muhammad Aizat Amdan and his siblings, the team proved that it takes more than just an individual skill to win the match. The match ended with a 3-3 draw. Scorers for this friendly match are Ramzi Bustami, Razlan Rashid and Mohd Junaidi Johar.
Then Stratos FC went against GOMBAK FC (GBKFC) which was considered as a warm up game to prepare the team for the upcoming Social League. GBKFC is a football team led by few youngsters from Gombak. The matched ended with Stratos FC losing 0-1.
